Recycling of waste electrical equipment for end users / Battery ordinance

1. Return of waste electrical equipment from private households

The following information is intended for private households that use electrical and/or electronic equipment. Electrical appliances contain valuable resources, but also pollutants. Every consumer is therefore required by law to dispose of waste electrical equipment at an authorized collection or return point, for example at the local recycling center. Waste electrical and electronic equipment is accepted there free of charge and recycled in an environmentally friendly and resource-saving manner. The electrical/electronic equipment is marked with the crossed-out wheeled garbage can symbol shown opposite. This symbol means: electrical and electronic equipment must not be disposed of with household waste.

As our sales area of electrical appliances is less than 400 m², we are not obliged to take back old electrical appliances according to ElektroG, but we refer to collection and take-back points.

2. Note on the disposal of used batteries / battery ordinance

In connection with the sale of batteries and rechargeable batteries, we are obligated as a dealer under the Battery Ordinance to inform you as a consumer of the following:

As the end user, you are legally obligated to return used batteries. After use, you can return the used batteries to our sales outlet, to a municipal collection point or to your local retailer.

Batteries containing harmful substances are marked with a sign consisting of a crossed-out garbage can and the chemical symbol (Cd, Hg or Pb) of the heavy metal that is decisive for the classification as containing harmful substances.

The symbols shown on the batteries have the following meaning:

  • The symbol of the crossed-out garbage can means that the battery must not be put into the household garbage.
  • Pb = battery contains more than 0.004% lead by mass
  • Cd = battery contains more than 0.002 mass percent cadmium
  • Hg = battery contains more than 0.0005 mass percent mercury.

Please observe the above instructions.
