What does the VESA standard mean?
The VESA standard, which stands for Video Electronics Standards Association, refers to the VESA Flat Display Mounting Interface (FDMI). This standard provides guidelines for attaching flat screens, LCD monitors, and TV sets to monitor mounts. It defines the number and placement of threads on the screen, with a minimum of four threads depending on the screen's dimensions and weight. The VESA standard ensures compatibility between your television and various monitor mounts, whether for wall, table, or ceiling mounting. To ensure compatibility, both the monitor/television and the monitor mount need to have the same VESA standard.
Which VESA standard does my TV have?
Almost all manufacturers of monitors / TV sets (such as LG, Sony, Panasonic, Samsung, Metz, Loewe) provide corresponding threaded holes on the back of the screens for attachment to mounting systems. The VESA standard results from the horizontal and vertical spacing of the threaded holes.
You can find out your VESA standard in two ways:
- urn your screen over and find the threaded holes. Now measure the horizontal as well as the vertical distance of the screw holes (centre to centre). If, for example, the distance between the VESA holes is 400 millimetres in width and 200 millimetres in height, then this corresponds to a VESA dimension of 400 x 200 millimetres (VESA standard = horizontal distance in mm x vertical distance in mm).
- If you have the data sheet of your monitor, you will find the VESA specification there. Alternatively, you can enter the model number of your TV set on the manufacturer's page and find the required specification there.
Common / known VESA standards are:
VESA 75x75, VESA 100x100, VESA 200x100, VESA 200x200, VESA 300x200, VESA 300x300, VESA 400x200, VESA 400x300, VESA 400x400, VESA 600x200, VESA 600x400, VESA 700x400, VESA 800x400, VESA 800x500, VESA 800x600, VESA 1000x800
(horizontal x vertical thread spacing).

The VESA does not fit the selected mount?
If your TV's VESA standard is either too small or too large, or if your TV lacks threaded holes altogether, VESA adapters can come to the rescue. This situation may arise with TV sets from manufacturers like Metz or Loewe. In our shop, you can discover suitable VESA adapters for all models, ensuring compatibility and easy installation.
In the image, the Samsung U28E590D monitor is shown using the MonLines V014 VESA adapter. This adapter effectively enlarges the VESA mount from 75x75 mm to 100x100 mm.
Our online shop offers a wide range of VESA adapters to cater to various needs. If you require assistance in finding a suitable adapter set, please don't hesitate to contact us via phone or email, providing us with the name of your TV model. Alternatively, you can place an order for your desired TV mount and include a comment requesting verification of compatibility with your TV model. We will gladly conduct the necessary checks to ensure the TV fits the selected bracket.
The syntax of the VESA standard
In the VESA syntax, MIS (Mounting Interface Standard) is used. The subdivision allows a more detailed distinction to be made with regard to screen diagonal and maximum weight.
VESA MIS-B: 10,2 to 20,2 cm screen diagonal; max. 2 kg
VESA MIS-C: 20,3 to 30,4 cm screen diagonal; max. 4,5 kg
VESA MIS-D: 30,5 to 58,3 cm screen diagonal; max. 14 kg
VESA MIS-E: 58,4 to 78,6 cm screen diagonal; max. 22,7 kg
VESA MIS-F: 78,7 to 228,6 cm screen diagonal; max. 113,6 kg
In practical usage, the MIS-D standard is commonly employed for smaller monitors. However, as the screen diagonal or inch size of monitors and TVs increases, the standard shifts to MIS-E or MIS-F. When the VESA dimensions reach 200x200, M6 screws are predominantly used instead of M4. For even larger screens, M8 screws or more than four threaded holes are utilized.
For square VESA dimensions, a single number is typically provided, such as VESA 75, VESA 100, VESA 200, VESA 300, VESA 400, representing 75x75, 100x100, 200x200, 300x300, and 400x400 respectively. In cases where the dimensions are not equal, the specification is horizontal thread spacing x vertical thread spacing, e.g. VESA 200x100, 300x200, 400x200, 400x300, 600x200, 600x400, 700x400, 800x400, 800x600, 1000x800.
